Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences

The 80th anniversary of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences was celebrated at the Nakhchivan Division of ANAS.

The scientific session was opened with a speech by the Chairman of the Nakhchivan Division of ANAS, Academician Ismayil Hajiyev. The academician highlighted the contributions of ANAS to the scientific and cultural environment of Azerbaijani society, public and political life, the training of personnel, and the development of the society’s scientific potential.

The President of ANAS, Academician Isa Habibbeyli delivered a presentation at the scientific session titled “The Development Path and the Modern Period of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences.” He touched upon the issues such as the Academy’s progress, the activities of its newly established regional departments, and the impact of artificial intelligence on science. He also spoke in detail about issues related to Turkology, Western Azerbaijan, and the Karabakh war.

Academician Isa Habibbeyli expressed his gratitude to the Head of State for his care and trust in the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences on behalf of the staff of ANAS.

At the end of his speech, Academician Isa Habibbeyli presented several gifts to the Nakhchivan Division of ANAS, including a painting reflecting Azerbaijanism  and philosophy of science, a reader card granting unlimited access to the Electronic Library of ANAS, the two-volume book “Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences: Prominent Figures” and a commemorative clock bearing the emblem of ANAS.

Afterward, the Rector of Nakhchivan State University, Associate Professor Elbrus Isayev, corresponding members of ANAS, Abulfaz Guliyev and Vali Bakhshaliyev, and Chief Researcher of the Nakhchivan Institute of Bioresources, Academician Tariyel Talibov spoke about the development of ANAS, the attention of President Ilham Aliyev to science, the organization of scientific activities in the institutions they lead, and the application of artificial intelligence in science. They also extended their congratulations to the staff of ANAS.
