Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences

A regular meeting was held under the leadership of Academician Isa Habibbayli, President of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS), in the “Meridian” conference hall located in the building of the Presidium of the Academy.

The meeting was attended by members of the ANAS Presidium, heads of departments of the Presidium Office, and Academician Ali Abbasov, Director of the Institute of Control Systems of the Ministry of Science and Education.

The discussion focused on the work carried out and the forthcoming tasks related to the 80th anniversary of the Academy, in accordance with the Decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan “On the Celebration of the 80th Anniversary of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences.”

Addressing the meeting, Academician Isa Habibbayli, President of ANAS, provided information on the events held so far in connection with the Academy’s jubilee. He emphasized that, for the first time, the anniversary was celebrated outside Baku — at Karabakh University, the Nakhchivan Division of ANAS, and Baku State University. On this occasion, an exhibition featuring paintings by Academy employees was organized for the first time at the Vajiha Samadova Exhibition Hall, where four artists were admitted to the Union of Artists. He also noted that the 80th anniversary of ANAS was jointly celebrated with the New Azerbaijan Party, and several Academy employees became members of the Party.

Furthermore, for the first time in the history of ANAS, its jubilee was celebrated abroad — in Ankara, Türkiye, and during the meeting of Presidents of the Academies of Sciences of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (BSEC) member states held in Istanbul. The jubilee was also marked at the assembly of the International Association of Academies of Sciences held in Minsk, with the participation of Academician Ibrahim Guliyev, Vice-President of ANAS.

The ANAS President also stated that, within the framework of the 80th anniversary, the “Elm” Publishing House had prepared several significant publications, including “Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences: From Heydar Aliyev to Ilham Aliyev,” the monograph “Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences in the 20th Century: Born from Historical Necessity,” the two-volume collection “Faces,” the reference book “Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences: Information Book,” as well as bibliographies of the Academy’s founders and other prominent full and corresponding members.

He also recalled that, within the jubilee framework, several commemorative medals were established — the “Uzeyir Hajibeyli Medal of ANAS,” the “Aziz Sancar Medal of ANAS,” the “Yusif Mammadaliyev Medal of ANAS,” and the “Lev Landau Medal of ANAS.”

In addition, he mentioned that, for the first time, a presentation prepared using artificial intelligence technologies was developed in connection with the anniversary and will be demonstrated during the final jubilee ceremony.

At the meeting, Academician Arif Hashimov, Academic Secretary of ANAS; Academician Ali Abbasov, Director of the Institute of Control Systems; and heads of departments of the Presidium Office — Doctor of Philology Sarkhan Khaveri, PhD in Biology Esmira Alirzayeva, PhD in Philology Agahuseyn Shukurov, PhD in Mathematics Fariz Imranov, and Samir Huseynov — delivered speeches presenting information on the ongoing preparations for the 80th anniversary celebration of ANAS.

In conclusion, Academician Isa Habibbayli conveyed his recommendations and instructions to ensure that the final jubilee ceremony dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences, to be held in November, is organized at the highest level.
