Azerbaijan National Academy of Science

Recently received a wide scope of research, which is carried out in the priority scientific areas, as well as activities implemented due to the integration of science and education in the institutions and organizations of ANAS.

One of these organizations who achieved a great success in the implementation of fundamental and innovative research in the field of archeology and ethnography in Azerbaijan is the Institute of Archaeology and Ethnography.

As a result of research carried out over many years by the Azerbaijani archeologists, material facts has been proved that, our country is one of the oldest human settlements in the world, one of the centers of early civilization.

The investigations has shed light on a number of the dark pages of the history of Azerbaijan's ancient period, and these scientific advances have led to the identification of the material facts that have an important meaning to write a history of our country.

Life, customs, traditions, and also material and spiritual culture of the population have been studied by the ethnographic researches conducted in all regions of the republic.

Recently at the Institute have even more extended researches in the field of anthropology.

In 2015-2016 of academic years two masters were accepted to Magistry of the Institute of Archaeology and Ethnography in "Anthropology", during the first term they were taught such subjects as basics of physical anthropology, ethnology, theory of ethnology.

Currently, measures are being taken to continue their education in the relevant higher education institutions in Turkey in "Anthropology".

In Azerbaijan, for the development of anthropology and its adaptation to the modern world is necessary to regularly review and implement priority themes, modern theories and new trends.

To learn more about it, we have addressed to the the head of the Department of Institute of Archeology and Ethnography of ANAS, Doctor of Anthropological Sciences Aliaga Mammadli.

In development of modern society of Azerbaijan has been achieved important success in the direction of studying of ethnosocial and ethnocultural features. Ethnography of Azerbaijan as a precursor of Anthropology has a long and glorious history.

Even if to glance at this history, is possible to see the important achievements received in various field of ethnographic science.

Without a detailed study of this multifaceted rich heritage is impossible to study at a high scientific level of its history and prospects. Currently ethnography creates opportunities to explore the past and present of our people.

Among the achievements of the national ethnography, of course, an important place is occupied by the study of traditional economic culture of our people, the definition of regional and global importance of this crop.
