The establishment of the Youth Academy at ANAS is a manifestation of the trust and value placed on young people in our country.

These remarks were made by Associate Professor Elmir Babayev, PhD in Chemistry and Chair of the Youth Academy of ANAS, during his address titled “From the Council of Young Scientists to the Youth Academy” at the Annual General Assembly of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences.

Reflecting on the 80-year path of ANAS, Elmir Babayev stated that significant scientific achievements have been attained over these years, reputable scientific schools have been formed, and measures aimed at ensuring the intergenerational transfer of knowledge, preserving the academic environment, and systematically developing human capital have been implemented. He noted that the reforms carried out at the Academy in recent years have laid the foundation for an entirely new stage of development. The Chair characterized ANAS’s youth policy as one of the key pillars of the Academy’s strategic development model and spoke about conferences, seminars, and round tables organized by the Council of Young Scientists and Specialists of ANAS, activities undertaken in the field of international scientific cooperation, the expansion of the “Young Researcher” journal, and efforts to stimulate the scientific-organizational and social activities of young scholars.

Elmir Babayev stated that the Youth Academy was established on September 10, 2025, at the initiative of Academician Isa Habibbeyli and by decision of the Presidium of ANAS, emphasizing that this event represents not only a structural change but also a shift in ideas. Providing detailed information on the goals of the Youth Academy, he noted that its strategic objectives include systematically promoting innovation-oriented thinking, institutionalizing integration into international scientific networks, strengthening the mentoring (succession) institute, and forming a school of academic leadership.

In concluding his speech, Elmir Babayev emphasized that the Youth Academy is hope born of an idea, confidence strengthened by structure, and responsibility arising from an adopted decision. Noting that the institution’s primary mission is to cultivate a new generation of scholars capable of defining scientific directions, assessing strategic priorities, and bearing responsibility for the development of ANAS, the Chair expressed confidence that young people will duly justify the trust placed in them.
