Geneticists bred chickens, whose eggs do not cause allergies

A new kind of hens, eggs of which Allergy sufferers will be able to eat without risk to health, brought genetics of national Institute of advanced engineering Sciences and technologies of Japan. To ensure that eggs did not cause allergies, the experts removed one of the genes included in the DNA of birds.

The gene in question needed to appear in the white of an egg of ovomucoid — substance, which usually acts as an allergen that does not allow a person to eat eggs and chicken meat. Edit the DNA of chickens, according to experts, allowed us to make eggs of laying hens “hypoallergenic”. In the future, theresearchers plan clinical trials to test whether the eggs of genetically modified chickens do not cause rejection, reports Japanese TV channel NHK.

Allergic to chicken eggs (and chicken meat), as a rule, is expressed in the appearance of the rash and inflammation on the skin when you use them for food. Most often this reaction occurs in children up to 6 years, after which the Allergy often disappears itself. However, about 20 per cent of people continue to suffer from it, even as adults.

For a long time Japan was considered the world leader in the consumption of eggs — every citizen of this country eats on average one egg per day. However, in 2009, became the leader of Mexico, whose inhabitants eat in a day and a half eggs (in order to ensure that the amount of this product, every second of the chickens in Mexico have to put 1,5 thousand eggs). Russia in the ranking of 2009 was in 12th place in the consumption of eggs.

Various studies have shown that eggs, unlike many other products, is almost completely absorbed by the body, useful for blood formation and for the health of the eyes, and also strengthens your bones and joints, stimulate the immune system and improve mental performance.
