Azerbaijan National Academy of Science

Baku Slavic University (BSU) started the International Scientific Conference "Multicultural and tolerant values in the heritage of the great leader Heydar Aliyev" devoted to 93rd anniversary of national leader Heydar Aliyev on May 3.

At the conference, State Advisor for religious, inter-ethnic and multicultural issues of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Academician Kamal Abdullayev spoke about multicultural and tolerant environment, historically existing in our country, and the work done in the field of development of relations between state and religion, the foundation of which was laid by great leader Heydar Aliyev.

Noting that, the great leader Heydar Aliyev-the founder of the Azerbaijani political multiculturalism K.Abdullayev stressed that, the national leader has developed and offered a new level of multiculturalism tradition, which formed for centuries.

Recalling that, according to the Decree of the President Ilham Aliyev dated January 11, 2016 has been declared the "Year of multiculturalism", Academician also noted that, multiculturalizm in Azerbaijan has become a way of life.

Speaking at the event, President of ANAS, Academician Akif Alizadeh said that, multiculturalism was one of the main directions of the state policy.

Describing the historical merits of the outstanding personality of Heydar Aliyev in the creation, development and recognition in the international arena of the modern independent state, Academician Akif Alizadeh said that, the great leader has laid the foundation of internal and foreign policy of independent Azerbaijan and determined its development strategy.

Speaking at the conference, others noted that, as the confluence of different civilizations located on the historical Silk Road, Azerbaijan is famous as the land where for centuries formed among the national and cultural diversity, and where the representatives of different nationalities and religions live in peace, tranquility, understanding and dialogue.

After the plenary session the conference were continued according to sections on "Heydar Aliyev’s heritage and Azerbaijan model of multiculturalism", "Multicultural Society in modern Azerbaijan", "The history and culture of Azerbaijan", "Azerbaijan language", "Azerbaijan literature", "Modern Azerbaijan in the light of the ideas of the great leader Heydar Aliyev".

The conference will conclude on May 5.
