Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences

Sabuhi Gahramanov, Director of the “Elm” Publishing House of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS) and PhD in Philology, participated in the VI Forum of Scientists from the CIS Member States, held in the Republic of Kazakhstan under the theme “Science in the Age of Artificial Intelligence: New Opportunities for Cooperation and Development”.

At the forum, organised in Almaty on October 29–30, 2026, S. Gahramanov delivered a report entitled “Academic Publishing in the Age of Artificial Intelligence: New Opportunities and Challenges” at the roundtable discussion on “Artificial Intelligence in the Social Sciences and Humanities: Society, Culture, Education and Public Administration”.

In his report, he noted that artificial intelligence creates extensive opportunities for organising editorial and publishing processes and increasing the international accessibility of scientific publications. He also pointed out that the rapid development of digital technologies is transforming the traditional areas of academic publishing and giving them new dimensions. S. Gahramanov also addressed the scientific and ethical challenges arising from the integration of artificial intelligence into academic publishing. He emphasised that close attention must be paid to the reliability of scientific information, authorship and scientific responsibility, and that safeguarding academic values must remain the foremost priority.

S. Gahramanov noted that integrating artificial intelligence into scientific activities is one of the current priorities of ANAS. He highlighted that, as the application of artificial intelligence in the humanities and social sciences expands at the Academy, an English-language academic journal entitled “Journal of Artificial Intelligence in Humanities and Social Sciences” has been established. He added that this initiative aims to create an important platform for discussing new research methods, fostering interdisciplinary cooperation and developing international scientific communication.

Providing information about the ANAS DergiPark platform, S. Gahramanov noted that this electronic resource offers extensive opportunities for bringing academic publications together in a unified digital environment, managing them and making scientific articles accessible to a wider audience. He stated that such scientific platforms contribute to shaping modern research areas, facilitating international discussion of scientific findings and advancing the digital transformation of academic publishing.

At the end of the forum, a certificate and gifts were presented to Sabuhi Gahramanov, PhD in Philology.
