Azerbaijan National Academy of Science

Director of the Institute of Botany, corresponding member of ANAS Valida Alizadeh participated in the international conference which held at the Missouri Botanical Garden, USA "The goal of the sustainable development and protection of plants".

The event was held by the organizational support of the International Council of Botanic Gardens Conservation, Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD), Botanic Gardens Conservation International (BGCI) USA.

The conference discussed the exchange of international experience in the implementation of the directions GPPC, achieving of CBD Strategic Plan for 2011-2020, Aichi biodiversity targets and goals of sustainable development up to 2030.

At the international event V.Alizadeh presented the results of the project "Prediction of risk of extinction of rare species of plants of Azerbaijan flora", implemented by the support of ANAS. Plenary report on the conference material theme of Azerbaijani scientist aroused great interest among the participants.

The conference was important from the point of view of the study of the multifaceted global problems such as biodiversity loss, climate change and others.

Conference materials were submitted to the CBD Secretariat for publication in book form.
