Azerbaijan National Academy of Science

A group of young employees of the Institute of Geography of ANAS within the framework of the project "Support for sustainable development of mountain territories in the Caucasus region" participated in the summer school on "New mountain Horizons: Caucasus Region in a Changing World" held in Georgia.

The Summer School was held by the organization of the Institute of Geography of the Russian Academy of Sciences and financial support of National Science Foundation of Switzerland, Agency for Development and Corporation of this country and the Academy of Caucasian Swiss network. The event was attended by representatives of Azerbaijan, Turkey, Georgia, Iran and Russia.

The aim of Summer School was to create a network of international cooperation of young scientists and researchers in the name of science and the world.

At the event were delivered papers on the following topics: climate change, natural disasters, the use and management of land resources, sustainable development of tourism in the Caucasus region.

Director of the Institute of Geography of ANAS, Academician Ramiz Mammadov reported on "Natural risks in mountain areas of the South Caucasus (on the example of Azerbaijan)."

Next, were carried out field research and practical exercises.

At the event were delivered papers on cartography of mountain areas and appropriate fieldwork. The results obtained were loaded into the online servers. There were presentations on carried out research works.

In conclusion, the participants of Summer School were awarded with certificates.
