Center of Applied Zoology of ANAS Institute of Zoology has been achieved the primary result in the field of artificial reproduction of medical leeches.

So, during the 42-day experiment, 8 leeches were dropped into the aquarium located in the center, for which an ecosystem was created in accordance with their natural conditions. In the aquarium, stored in a dark room in a calm environment, no interference was made.

As a result of the experiments was achieved the first cocoon.

Note that, medical leech (Hirudo medicinalis) has pharmaceutical properties and is used in various fields of medicine for treatment purposes.
