Mariam Seyidbeyli: "More than 100 students have been sent to higher educational institutions of foreign countries during the ADR"

Scientific conference on "Azerbaijan Democratic Republic: historical retrospective and modernity" was held today at the Main building of ANAS. Director of the Institute of History of ANAS, doctor of historical sciences Maryam Seyidbeyli delivered a speech on "Historical heritage of Azerbaijani education" at the event. She drew attention to the archive materials about the students studying abroad during the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic (ADR) and compared it with the historic heritage of Heydar Aliyev's educational policy. He noted that more than 100 students from Azerbaijan were sent to higher educational institutions of foreign countries during the republican period. 23 to Italy, 45 to France, to Germany, 10 to United Kingdom, 9 to Turkey, and 12 to the Russian Empire's various universities (Moscow, Kiev, Don, Kharkov and other cities) sent.

Historian scientist also informed about the educational policy carried out in 1976-1980 and said that 406 teachers were sent to the Moscow State University in order to improve the pedagogical staff of the Azerbaijani higher educational institutions.
