Preparation for International symposium dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the discovery Azikhantrop’s bone discussed

The preparations for an international scientific conference devoted to the 50th anniversary of the founding of rare primitive human remains were discussed at the world-renowned Azikhantrop Paleolith camp in Karabakh.

ANAS Vice-president, academician Isa Habibbayli, director of the Institute of Archeology and Ethnography, doctor of historical sciences, professor Maisa Rahimova, academician Teymur Bunyadov and head of Stone Age Archeology Department, doctor of historical sciences Asadulla Jafarov participated in the discussions.

Giving information about the work done on the study of stone monuments in Azerbaijan, A.Jafarov noted that, in this direction, the monograph "Azikh Archeology" was prepared.

He said that, in the monograph that the finds in the Azikh camp, such as the Guruchay, the ancient Ashel, the middle Ages, the character of the last Achilles and musty cultures, the location of Azikh Paleolithic camp in the world archeology and other features are widely commented.

The monographs were also denied on the basis of archaeological and historical facts of the Armenian authors who are trying to falsify the history of the Karabakh and Azikh Paleolithic camps.

At the meeting it was decided to make proposals on the international scientific conference dedicated to the 50th jubilee of the Azikh people and discuss it at the Scientific Council of the Institute.

The Azikh cave complex was discovered by the Paleolithic archeological expedition of ANAS, headed by archeologist Mammadali Huseynov in 1960, between Azikh and Salaketin villages of Fuzuli region.

In June 1968, the expedition discovered a primitive human jaw with several stone items during the archeological excavations carried out on the IV horizon of the Azikh campus.

Professor Demir Hajiyev, who has studied the jaw, has shown that there is a new type of pre-neanderthal element of primitive people. This primitive hominid type of scientific circulation is called "Azikhantrop".
