Azerbaijani schoolchildren achieved great success in the Olympics in Turkey

The international scientific idea and project Olympiad of schoolchildren "OKSEF-2018" was held in Izmir, Turkey.

Our country was represented by 3 groups of delegations from 120 countries participating in 60 projects from 38 countries.

Pupil of 10th grade of European-Azerbaijani school Ulvi Jabbarov and Fuad Khasiyev (scientific supervisor Elvin Abdullayev) deserved gold medal on biology category,  10th grade pupils Samir Mammadov, Yasamen Hasanzade (Scientific Leader Melek Azizova) and a 10th grade pupil of the secondary school № 251 of Nizami district Javad Jabrayilov (scientific supervisor – chairman of Young Scientists and Specialists Council of the Institute of Additives Chemistry, PhD in chemistry, assistant professor Afsun Sujayev), awarded bronze medal.

At the final stage, the expert assessment consisted of a 5-minute poster with a 12-minute slide verbal presentation in English. Four international experts in each category participated in the assessment. They evaluated the project and the performances of the authors, as well as the pupils answered the questions of the experts.

At the end, the winners received diplomas, medals and souvenirs, and all participants got certificates.

Short films and national and cultural samples were presented on the countries where the project participants were represented.

The main objective of the 13-year Olympiad is to encourage talented, creative schoolchildren to pursue scientific and technological research, to bring together young people from the same age group all over the world to develop scientific and cultural exchanges, and to develop their creativity. The competition has been held under different names in the US, England, Russia, Argentina, Italy, Spain, Mexico and other countries.
