The establishment of Karabakh University by the order of Ilham Aliyev, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan is a significant historical event with immense socio-political importance in the modern life of our country. This is a brilliant chapter in the magnificent chronicle of the “Great Return” movement, which has been successfully implemented after the historic Victory achieved under the leadership of the Victorious Supreme Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev in the Patriotic War. Karabakh University is the key to the revival of new life in our liberated lands. Karabakh University is the driving force of resettlement and significant development in Karabakh.

Karabakh University is the main and largest scientific and cultural center of Karabakh. Undoubtedly, Karabakh University will also transform Karabakh into one of the major scientific and educational centers of the republic and the world, with Khankendi becoming a city for youth. In light of the ideals of independent statehood of Heydar Aliyev and Ilham Aliyev, Karabakh University will become the cradle of new generations nurtured in the spirit of patriotism, who will convey the truth about Karabakh to the world, protect whole Karabakh as the apple of their eye, and write a new chapter in the region's history.

The extensive preparatory works, which have been carried out at a high level by the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan in a short time, provides full grounds to say that, starting from its first academic year, Karabakh University will advance toward its great goals. The Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences considers it an honorable duty to provide every kind of support necessary for the further development of Karabakh University.

The opening of Karabakh University is a significant event in the centuries-long history of education in Azerbaijan.

On behalf of the staff of the National Academy of Sciences, I express deep gratitude to Ilham Aliyev, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan who has revived life and established a great university in liberated Karabakh. I wish our country's Leader even greater success in realizing the great ideals of our independent state and nation.

I sincerely congratulate the administration, teaching staff, and the first students of Karabakh University, which begins its work in the 2024 academic year.
