Nakhchivan Division of ANAS hosted a scientific conference on the theme "Establishment of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic: History and Modernity".

The event was held in accordance with the "Action Plan on the 95th Anniversary of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic", approved by the Chairman of the Supreme Assembly of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, Vasif Talibov, on January 21, 2019.

Opening the conference, academician Ismayil Hajiyev said that the Nakhchivan has passed a complicated and difficult way of development.

After the overthrow of the tsarism, the Armenian armed bandits trying to occupy Nakhchivan attempted to reduce the number of indigenous population in artificially, underlined the speaker.

I.Hajiyev also pointed out the activities carried out by the national leader Heydar Aliyev in the direction of preservation of Nakhchivan's territory as well as the status of autonomy and measures taken to strengthen it.

The conference was also attended by heads of departments of the Institute of History, Ethnography and Archeology of the Division, PhDs on history Emin Shikhaliyev's "Socio-political situation in Nakhchivan on the eve of autonomy", Asaf Orujov's "Nakhchivan Autonomy is a historical achievement", Musa Guliyev's "Moscow and Kars international treaties", Zeynab Guliyeva's "Development path of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic" and other reports were listened.
