Conference on "Innovative development and economic reforms: the role of commercialization of intellectual property and technologies"

The conference on "Innovative development and economic reforms: the role of commercialization of intellectual property and technologies" was held on February 11 with the signing of a memorandum on cooperation between the Intellectual Property Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Center for Economic Reforms Analysis and Communication.

Chairman of the Board of the Intellectual Property Agency Kamran Imanov emphasized the importance of the conference. He said that Azerbaijan ranks 25th out of 190 countries, according to the “Global Doing Business 2019”. He said that due to the structural and economic reforms carried out in our country in 2018 significant organizational and functional changes in the intellectual property system.

It was noted that the main tasks facing the Agency are the protection of copyright and related rights, the management of digital rights and the struggle against piracy, as well as the management of industrial property and the organization of the management in accordance with modern requirements, patent and trademark applications ensuring integrity, openness and transparency for those who do it.

It was noted that within the framework of the official visit of the Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organization Francis Garry to Azerbaijan on June 4-6, the international conference on "Support of intellectual property in science and innovation economy" conference was held and an exhibition was organized to demonstrate the achievements of startups created at universities and research institutes. 21 startup projects were demonstrated at the exhibition, 16 of them were local universities, 2 private companies and 3 were represented by ANAS High Technologies Park (HT Park).

Vice-President of ANAS, academician Isa Habibbeyli, academician-secretary of ANAS, academician Rasim Alguliyev, director of HT Park, PhD in Economy Nazim Shukurov, and Vusal Suleymanli, Head of Patent, Certification, Marketing and Business Incubation Department at HT Park attended the event.
