An event dedicated to Science Day was held at “Tusi-Bohm Planetarium”

An event titled "Super Moon" dedicated to the Day of Science was held on February 19, jointly organized by Shamakhi Astrophysical Observatory (ShAO) named after Nasreddin Tusi of ANAS and "Tusi-Bohm Planetarium".

ShAO Director, correspondent member of ANAS Namig Jalilov informed about the measures taken in recent years to increase the influence of science in our country, increase the importance of science in society and stimulate scientific activity. He underlined that the Order of President Ilham Aliyev "On the establishment of the Day of Science in the Republic of Azerbaijan" dated April 9,  2018 is a clear example of the attention shown to the development and promotion of science.

N.Jalilov said that the name of the event was "Super Moon". According to him, the Moon moves around the Earth in a stretched orbit. That is, within a month, it is at a distance and at a very short distance. The nearest distances can range from about 356 to 365 km. In the case of Super Moon, which coincided with 19 February, the Moon will approach 356,761 km.

Then director of the planetarium, research scientist of the ShAO Famil Mustafa said that the Action Plan of the Academy was approved by the Head of State in connection with the execution of the Order "Day of Science" in our country and the first initiative in this direction was implemented by the observatory.

Later on, PhD in Physics Adalet Atayi made a scientific report on astronomy. The speaker spoke about the development history of astronomy, achievements and perspective plans, as well as various theories about the world's origin.

At the end of the event documentary film about travel to space was demonstrated.
