Nariman Shirinov was born on November 7, 1929 in Tovuz. In 1949 he entered the Veterinary Faculty of Azerbaijan Agricultural Institute. In 1950 he moved to Moscow Veterinary Academy and graduated in 1954. He began his labor activity in 1954 as a major veterinarian in Balakan region. Then he came to the Azerbaijan Scientific Research Veterinary Institute. Since 1955 he has worked as a laboratory assistant and later as a junior researcher at the Helmintology Laboratory. Since 1970, he has been the director of the Azerbaijan Scientific Research Veterinary Institute and has worked here until the end of his life and has had invaluable service in training specialists. During the period of its management, 11 doctors of sciences, 62 candidates of sciences, more than 5000 scientific works and monographs were published in the institute. In 1962, he defended his Ph.D. dissertation in 1970 and was awarded the title of professor in 1974.
Nariman Shirinov was awarded with the Order of Honor in 1981, the State Prize of the Republic of Azerbaijan in 1990, honored diplomas and medals. In 2001, he was elected Corresponding Organ of ANAS and Russian KTEA. For their outstanding contribution to the development of science, the KTEA academy members were awarded commemorative medals dedicated to the 100th anniversary of K.J. Skryabin and N. Vishlevskiy. Studying the helminths and helmintoses of water birds in the Republic of Azerbaijan in 1957-1960, enriched the science of helmintology with new research. Has registered new helmintic types in Azerbaijan, including the former Soviet Union and has developed treatment and prophylactic measures against them. For the first time in the USSR, a new school was created using veterinary and animal breeding products for petroleum wastes and petrochemical synthesis. In 1962, by the Decree of the Council of Ministers of the Azerbaijan SSR, he laid the foundation for a new laboratory for the treatment of prophylactics of oil waste, petrochemical synthesis products in AZE.AzBI and led him for a long time. As a result of the studies, Efiran-3, Efiran-777, Efiran-197, N-12, B and biological stimulator "Azolyat-A" have received the certificate of state registration. Nariman Shirinov is the author of 6 author's certificates, 200 scientific works, 2 monographs, 3 books, 4 manuals. His works have been published in many foreign publishing houses (Poland, Bulgaria, Hungary, and the Soviet Union). He represented Azerbaijan at many international congresses, scientific conferences, symposiums and sessions. From 1995 to 2000 he was a member of the Board of the State Veterinary Committee under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan, a member of the Scientific and Technical Council of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Azerbaijan in 2000-2004, editorial board of Agrarian Science Magazine, Institute of Zoology of ANAS and a member of the specialized council to defend his Ph.D. dissertations. Corresponding member of ANAS Nariman Shirinov died on July 26, 2006 in Baku. |
