Dalin Mark Alexandrovich was born on March 25, 1906 in Baku. He graduated from the Technology faculty of the Azerbaijan Industrial Institute (1930). Dalin received his PhD in technical sciences in 1938 and degree of doctor of science in technique in 1953 and received professor title in 1959. He was elected as an active member of the Academy of Sciences of the Azerbaijan USSR in 1959.
Under the guidance of M.Dalin, the application of large-tonnage production technology of propylene trimer and tetramer used in the production of alkylphenol additives significantly improving the quality of the oils has been implemented. Basic researches on ethylene oligomerization have allowed the development of the high molecular weight α-olefins under the high-temperature oligomerization of ethylene with the participation of aluminum organic catalysts. M.Dalin is the author of more than 500 scientific works, including 140 copyright certificates and 5 monographs. Under his leadership, 8 doctors of sciences and 50 PhDs have been trained. He deserved the title Honored Scientist, USSR State Prize (twice). Order of Lenin", "Red Labor Flag" and "Medal of Honor" (thrice), "For the protection of the Caucasus", "For honorable labor" (thrice), "Labor veteran", "40th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War" was his awarded medals. Academician Mark Dalin died in Moscow in 1996. |
