Aliyev Sahib Museib oglu was born on March 15, 1933 in the Gadebay region. In 1954 he graduated from the Azerbaijan Industrial Institute, in 1959 defendant a PhD in technical sciences, in 1967 - a Doctor of chemical sciences, and in 1971 - a Professor.

In 1983 elected as a corresponding member, and in 1989 - an active member of the Academy of Sciences of the Azerbaijan SSR.

S. Aliyev was the head of the laboratory at the Institute of Petrochemical Processes of the Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan (1969) and the head of the plastics department (1970-1976).

The main scientific directs of S.Aliyev were destructive and heterogeneously catalytic alkylation of aromatic carbohydrogens, dehydrogenation of alkyl and cycloalkyloromatic compounds, as well as fundamental studies in the polymerization and oligomerization of alkenes and arylalkenes with the participation of homogeneous and heterogeneous metal-complex catalysts and free radical initiators.

Under his leadership, the preparation of oligomers and joint oligomers characterized by complex physico-mechanical properties was studied, and production methods capable of condensing and polymerizing polyfunctional monomers of a new class, vinyl and para-isopropanol phenols, their allyl esters and glyceryl were developed.

As a result of the fundamental research were carried out on the basis of light gas oil fraction obtained as a result of the catalytic oil cracking process - local raw materials, the scientific foundations for the production of superplasticizers and water soluble oligosulfonates used in the construction industry as a chemical additive to concrete liquids have been developed at an economically advantageous technology. The necessary recommendations for the organization of production on an industrial scale are given.

S.Aliyev served as head of the laboratory at the Institute of Petrochemical Processes of the Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan (1969) and Director of the Department of Plastics (1970-1976). He also worked in teaching, worked as a teacher at the faculty of chemical technology of the Azerbaijan Petrochemical Institute and at the Department of Construction Materials of the Azerbaijan Polytechnic Institute, took an active part in the training of engineering personnel.

The results of S. Aliyev's scientific researches were publeshed in 504 scientific works, as well as 1 monograph, 190 author's certificates and a patent.

Under his leadership, 3 doctors of sciences, 37 PhDs of philosophy were defended.

S.Aliyev was a member of the Coordinating Council for Petroleum Chemistry of the Academy of Sciences of the Azerbaijan SSR and the USSR Academy of Sciences.

The scientist was awarded an honorary decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Council of Azerbaijan, a diploma and a silver medal of the All-Union Exhibition of Achievements of the National Economy.

Academician Aliyev Sahib died in 1990 in Baku.
