Azerbaijan National Academy of Science

Shahtakhtinski Habibulla was born on September 3, 1900 in Shakhtakhti, Nakhchivan. He graduated from the Medical Faculty of the Azerbaijan State University (1926), as well as the Faculty of Chemical Technology of the Azerbaijan State Oil Academy (1930).

Shahtakhtinski Habibullain 1940 received the degree of PhD in Chemistry, in 1949 - Doctor of Chemical Sciences and in 1950 received the title of Professor. In 1967 he was elected as an active member of the Academy of Sciences of the Azerbaijan SSR.

In 1937-1959 he worked as head of the department of the Azerbaijan State Oil Academy. A scientist from 1959 until the end of his life worked as a laboratory director at the Institute of Inorganic and Physical Chemistry of the Academy of Sciences of the Azerbaijan SSR (now the Institute of Catalysis and Inorganic Chemistry).

The scientific activity of Shahtakhtinski Habibullacovered such areas as analytical chemistry and technology of inorganic substances. A scientist has developed an arsenate-iodometric method for analyzing a number of chemical elements, which contributed to the discovery of a new page in analytical chemistry. During the complex processing of mineral raw materials with rich deposits on the territory of the republic, the scientist prepared a technology for the associated extraction of rare and trace elements (gallium, vanadium, etc.) and recommended for practical use.

Under the leadership of Shahtakhtinski Habibulla worked was completed on obtaining elemental sulfur by the converted natural gas from the exhaust gases of metallurgical plants and was tested on a semi-industrial device.

The scientific and practical results obtained by Shahtakhtinski Habibullawere reflected in his works “Analysis of Quantitative Chemistry”, “Determination of calcium and magnesium by the arsenate method”, “Production of gallium by complex processing of alunite”, “Production of aluminum salts from deposits of aluminous schists” and in others. The scientist is the author of 380 scientific papers, 7 monographs and textbooks.

Under the leadership of Shahtakhtinski Habibulla3 doctors of science, 35 PhD were protected.

Shahtakhtinski Habibullawas awarded the honorary title "Honored Worker of Science" was awarded the Order of the October Revolution and medals.
