Problems related to the Earth to discuss

Today, at the initiative of International Union of Geodesy and Geophysics (IUGG) the assembly entitled as “Earth's future, disaster risk and sustainability” was launched at the Presidium of ANAS.

Opening the assembly president of Azerbaijan National Committee of Geodesy and Geophysics of BGGI attached to ANAS, vice-president of the ANAS, acad. Ibrahim Guliyev stressed out that, about 70 countries around the world include to the organization which was established in 1919. ANAS also had become a member of this organization by the decision of the Presidium of ANAS in 2010.

Later on president of ANAS acad. Akif Alizadeh reported and highlighted the importance of the assembly. BGGI's meeting is held in Azerbaijan for the first time: “Azerbaijan is located in a seismic area, so it is natural to hold such an event in the country”, he noted.

BGGI's President Harsh Gupta, BGGI's General Secretary, prof. Ali Ismailzadeh were stressed the importance of the topics discussed at the event.

University of Calgary - Professor Michael Sideris, University of Cape Town -Isabelle Ansorge, University of Tokyo - Professor Kenji Sataken delivered a lecture on the subject.

Exchanged views on the subject, the Earth's current problems and their solutions were discussed.
