Azerbaijan National Academy of Science

The International Astronomical Union (IAU) decided to name one of the minor planet after Imadeddin Nesimi, in connection with the 650th anniversary of the great Azerbaijani poet and thinker Imadeddin Nesimi.

The offer was raised by the Azerbaijani astronomer, a member of the IAU, the chief researcher at the Shamakhi Astrophysical Observatory after N.Tusi, corresponding member of ANAS Eyyub Guluyev.

Nesimi Planet number is 32939 and motion zone is the connection of asteroids between the Mars and Jupiter planets. This planet was discovered by Czech astronomers at the Klet Observatory on October 24, 1995, and for a long time was called as UN2. So far, it has been observed 807 times at various observatories around the world.
