Today 144 years have passed since the establishment of the National Press of Azerbaijan.

The basis of the first press of the motherland in our country was laid by Hasan bey Zardabi on July 22, 1875, and the date of the publication of "Ekinchi" newspaper is celebrated as the National Press Day in Azerbaijan.

The 56th issue of the newspaper operating in 1875-1877 was published.

The newspaper has played a major role in strengthening the national unity of our people.

Significant progress has been made in this area after the "firsthand" of the Azerbaijani press. At the end of the 19th century "Ziya" (1879), "Kashkul" (1880) and "Kaspi" (80-90) newspapers were published.

After restoring its independence, Azerbaijan returned to many national and spiritual values ​​in the field of press. The abolition of censorship in August 1998 gave a serious impetus to the media's development in Azerbaijan.

At present, many newspapers and magazines are published in the republic, online news portals operate.

The day of publication of the newspaper "Ekinchi" by the Order of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan is celebrated as the Day of National Press and Journalism in our country.
