Azerbaijan National Academy of Science

Tehran city, the capital of the Iran Islamic Republic, has hosted the international scientific-practical conference co-joined UNESCO’s Tehran Office, Iran National Library and Archive Office, September 3-4, 2019.

Event focused on discussion of revealing rich written and documented heritage of the Silk Road countries and their inclusion in the UNESCO World Heritage List through joint international nominations.

The international event brought together experts, scientists, archive employees and librarians from Australia, Turkey, Pakistan, India, Afghanistan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. Deputy director of the Institute of Oriental Studies named after Z.M. Bunyadov, academician Shahin Mustafayev represented our country at the conference.

Within the two days, the participants discussed the work done in their countries in accordance with the UNESCO World Memory Program, the study of existing written and documentary monuments on the history and culture of the Silk Road, the possibility of joint international projects and nominations on their basis.

Academician Sh. Mustafayev’s lecture about history, rich written cultural heritage of ancient Silk Road and a wide international cooperation capacity aroused a great interest on attendees.
