Azerbaijan National Academy of Science

On October 17, Honored Worker of Chemistry, Laureate of the Azerbaijan State Prize, Awards "Sharaf" and "Shohrat", chief Laboratory of Synthetic Oils of the Institute of Petrochemical Processes of ANAS Maharram Mammadyarov is 95 years old.

Maharram Ali oglu Mammadyarov was born on October 17, 1924 in Yayji district of Julfa region of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic. Graduated from Nakhchivan Pedagogical College in 1941, attended in Great Patriotic War in 1941-1945, awarded with 12 medals and awards. In 1949 he graduated from the Azerbaijan State University and in 1953 was a postgraduate student in the Leningrad Technical University. In 1953 -1955 he worked as a secretary and senior researcher in the Institute of Chemistry of Azerbaijan AS, in 1959-1969 at the Institute of Petrochemical Processes. M. Mammadyarov was the founder of the Nakhchivan Science Center of the Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan, headed this organization in 1973-1979 and played a significant role in the determination of the region's natural resources. He taught at the Nakhchivan State Pedagogical Institute (now Nakhchivan State University) in 1975-1978. The scientist also served as director of the Institute of Microbiology of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Azerbaijan from 1994 to 2002. Since 1969 he has headed the Laboratory of Synthetic Oils at the Institute of Petrochemical Processes.

M. Mammadyarov defended PhD thesis in 1953 and doctoral thesis in 1970, became a professor in 1989, and was elected a corresponding member of ANAS in 1989, and an active member of ANAS in 2001.

Enhancements to add volatile technology, vinyl chlorinated high-throughput chlorination ethylene in catalysts, synthesis and synthesis of perchloric cyclic carbohydrate metabolism in the use of metastatic synthesis, the development of advanced technologies in the development of advanced synthetic smoothing problems, avoiding rehearsal and perspective techniques, organization and development of oil and gas microbiology in Azerbaijan, and the development and application of precipitates in the oil-producing plasma with specific cultures of microorganisms are his research objects.

Outcomes of scientist’s researches have been reflected in 320 articles, 3 monographs and 57 photos. He supervised for 6 PhDs and 21 Doctors of science.

In the 1980s, Mammadyarov was awarded the State Premier of the Republic of Azerbaijan for the development of advanced technology in the use of gas in Nakhchivan. In addition, Orders of "Sharaf" and "Shohrat", the medal named after Y. H. Mammadaliyev, and the gold medal "OGS" Economic Development Organization of Islamic Countries. M. Mammadyarov also has been deserved to the title of Honored Scientist and Honorary Diploma of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
