Vice-president of ANAS, director of the Institute of Information Technology, academician Rasim Aliguliyev met with GEANT Project Executive Director Leoni Schafer, GEANT Marketing and Communications Special Interest Group Coordinator Laura Durnford and members of the Organizing Committee of the EaPEC 2020 Conference Steffie Bosman and Neringa Jackvise.

At the meeting, academician Rasim Aliguliyev spoke about the importance of the EaPConnect (Eastern Partnership Connect) project, which is initiated and coordinated by the European Association of Science and Education Networks (GEANT). He said the project envisages the creation of an e-science infrastructure encompassing the Eastern Partnership countries and the easy access to the high-speed, broadband Internet network for millions of scientists, teachers and students operating in these countries.

Dealing with 5th Eastern Partnership E-Infrastructure Conference to be held in our country in 2020, R. Alguliyev noted that, e-science and e-infrastructure will be discussed in order to integrate the science and education community in the EU and Eastern Partnership countries.

The meeting also discussed the GEANT Association and its services, GN4-3 and GN4-3N. In addition, it was informed about the projects GN4-3 and GN4-3N, which will be implemented until 2022. The main directions of the GN4-3 project are the design of new services, operational services and the organization of international cooperation.

Finally, exchange of views and questions were responded.
