Azerbaijani scientists participated in the IX World Science Forum

On November 20, IX World Science Forum kicked off in Budapest, Hungary.

Representatives from nearly 100 countries attended the four-day event. Azerbaijan was represented at the forum by the vice-president of ANAS academician Dilgam Tagiyev and head department of the Institute of Literature named after Nizami Ganjavi Professor Imamverdi Hamidov.

President of the Republic of Hungary Janos Ader, President of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences Professor Laslo Lovas, UNESCO Deputy Secretary General Shamila Nair-Beduel, President of the International Science Council Professor Daya Reddy and others attended the opening ceremony.

The event's 40 thematic sessions under the slogan “Science, Ethics and Responsibility” were listened about 150 lectures covering scientific diplomacy, scientific journalism, the role of science in society, food security, climate change, drinking water problems, engineering, technology and ecology, regenerative medicine, international scientific cooperation etc. Scientists representing various international organizations, scientific centers and universities also exchanged views on various realms of science.

At the event, President of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences Professor Laslo Lovas and vice President of ANAS academician Dilgam Tagiyev discussed prospects for cooperation between the two academies of science.

The closing ceremony of the IX World Science Forum was held on November 23 in the Parliament building. The Forum adopted the Declaration of the Forum and decided to hold the X World Science Forum in Cape Town in 2021 in South Africa.
