Azerbaijan National Academy of Science

The Negative Fund of the Azerbaijan National Museum of History ANAS stores the photo, reflecting the 30th anniversary of the Azerbaijan Academy of Sciences.

The material, authored by the photographer I.A. Rubenchik, was transferred to the museum in 1976. National leader Heydar Aliyev also attended the anniversary meeting.

Note that, by the decision of the USSR People's Commissars' Council dated January 23, 1945, the Azerbaijani Branch of the USSR Academy of Sciences was transformed into the Azerbaijan Academy of Sciences. At that time there were 4 divisions of the academy, 16 scientific-research institutes, scientific-research departments, 3 museums, Central Scientific Library, scientific bases in Nakhchivan, Ganja, Khankendi and Guba. On March 31, 1945, at the first general meeting of 15 active members of the Academy, Mirasadulla Mirgasimov was elected president of the Azerbaijan Academy of Sciences.
