With the development of laser technologies in medicine and industrial production, a problem arose: when using pulsed laser radiation, there is a great risk of eye damage. Assistant of the Department of Optics and Spectroscopy of Voronezh State University (Voronezh State University) Andrey Zvyagin has created an effective mechanism to protect vision. Thanks to the implementation of the project entitled “Development of low threshold optical power limiters of the visible range based on hybrid associates of colloidal quantum dots and dye molecules”, it will be possible to produce inexpensive optical coatings that will effectively limit pulsed laser radiation harmful to the eyes.

“This development is a transition to a new level of using laser technologies,” the scientist noted. “We intend to create“ smart ”materials for enterprises and productions that use pulsed lasers to control the intensity of laser radiation.
