Azerbaijan National Academy of Science

On February 5, International Center of Mugam has hosted for an event as part of the project “Evenings of ashug music” organized by the Institute of Folklore of ANAS.

The aim of the project is to popularize ashug art, one of the oldest trends in the oral tradition of Azerbaijani music.

Elkhan Mammadli, Ph.D in Philology, Head of the Ashug Creativity Department of the Institute of Folklore, opened the event and informed about the project. According to him, the project “Evenings of ashug music” is dedicated to ashug creativity, which is a special art area of national culture and has been going on for two years. E. Mammadli noted that this type of art reflects the unity of such fields as poetry, music, dance and singing.

The event continued with an artistic part.
