Employees of the Institute of History, Ethnography and Archeology of the Nakhchivan Division of ANAS will conduct another archeological researches in the autonomous republic this year as well.

According to the Vali Bakhshaliyev, head department of the institute, corresponding member of ANAS, the early stage of the Neolithic period has not been established not only in Azerbaijan, but in the South Caucasus in general. Therefore, one of the main issues is the conduct of exploratory research in the ancient settlements of the Araz Valley and the discovery of facts related to the early stages of Neolithic.

The scientist said that the research will further deepen the information about the ancient cultures and settlements formed in Nakhchivan.

Note that during archeological excavations in Nakhchivan last year, a Neolithic layer was discovered in a small area.
