April 2 is International Children's Book Day. There is an interesting history of the fact that Children's Literature Day coincides with this date. The famous storyteller Hans Christian Andersen was born on April 2, 1805. German writer Yella Lepman suggested celebrating International Children's Book Day on this date. In 1967, the International Children's Book Council established April 2 as International Children's Book Day, the birthday of Danish writer and children's favorite Hans Christian Andersen. The purpose of celebrating this significant day is to draw public attention to children's literature and its problems.
In general, the history of children's books dates back to 1477, when the songs of the ancient Greek author Aesop were published in written form. In 1658, the Czech educator and pedagogue J.A. Comenius published a picture book for children to explain the world.
International Children's Book Day is also celebrated in our country. Various art and book exhibitions are held on that day.
