American scientists have created a virus in the laboratory that can be used as a vaccine against coronaviruses. So far, tests have been conducted on mice infected with the MERS coronavirus. Scientists believe that this approach will be effective against the SARS-CoV-2 virus. The results of the study are published in the journal of the American Microbiology Society mBio.
There are still no vaccines in the world that protect people from coronavirus infections, such as COVID-19 or its preceding SARS (Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome, also known as SARS) and MERS (Middle East Respiratory Syndrome).
