Scientists have discovered that the nucleus of comet C / 2019 Y4 (ATLAS), which was supposed to be visible in May with the naked eye, probably began to decay.

Comet C / 2019 Y4 (ATLAS) is now heading towards the Sun. As we wrote earlier, she will make the closest approach to our planet on May 23, and the closest approach to the Sun is May 31 of this year. Scientists suggested that the comet could become so bright that it would be visible from the Earth to the naked eye, but they warned that comets were unstable and could collapse upon approaching the Sun without becoming bright enough.
