In the days of lockdown, the free legal aid project implemented by the International Law Department of the Institute of Law and Human Rights of ANAS together with the World Bank continues its activities online.

In April, 1206 people applied to the project for legal assistance. 1,205 of these were provided with legal assistance via Facebook and 1 via email. Citizens used the services of an online consultation by visiting the free legal aid page on Facebook and by e-mail legalaid@human.science.az. The appeals were addressed mainly on pension, social assistance, labor, family, migration, property, administrative issues, consumer issues, crime, inheritance, debt, transport. Most applicants are classified as low-income citizens.

It should be noted that the legal aid services project was launched in March 2018. The aim of the project is to provide free legal assistance to vulnerable groups, especially women, minors, refugees and internally displaced persons, national minorities, low-income families, as well as the development of information brochures on various areas of law to educate the population. Counseling covers such areas as family, administrative matters, labor, property, debt, inheritance, pension, social assistance, consumer rights, crime, etc.
