Laboratory studies in the United States have confirmed that coronavirus can be transmitted between domestic cats and that animals carrying SARS-CoV-2 do not show any symptoms of infection in the body, making diagnosis of the disease difficult.
Experts at the University of Wisconsin School of Veterinary Medicine conducted an experiment by testing the hypothesis that infection could be transmitted between animals. For this, three cats were infected with coronavirus, a strain of which was taken from an infected person, and then each of the sick cats was placed with a healthy animal. Five days later, the coronavirus was found in all three experimental cats that were healthy at the time of the experiment, but were in contact with their sick counterparts.
