For the first time in the world in Turkey, SARS-CoV2 virus is tested in water and wastewater

For the first time in the world in Turkey, the possibility of the presence of the SARS-CoV2 virus in water and wastewater is being studied. The virus was detected in wastewater in every district of Istanbul, which was selected as a pilot city for research. The frequency of the virus in the water depends on the region. According to www.haberturk.com, the Minister of Agriculture and Forestry of Turkey, Bekir Pakdemirli, said that studies in this direction will be carried out together with the country's Water Resources Institute and an early warning system will be developed about possible risks.

Studies in this direction were conducted in Istanbul and several cities of the country. For this, three special laboratories were created. Studies have shown that the SARS-CoV2 virus is more common in mud waters. Despite a small number of infections in some cities, the virus was detected in wastewater.

Research will continue at airports and tourist areas.
