Researchers of the Plant Protection Laboratory of the Institute of Dendrology of ANAS Elman Yusifov and Nigar Yusifova are conducting research on pests found in natural and cultural plants in the gardens and parks of the Absheron Peninsula. During the research, 4 types of insects were found, their classification and bioecological features were determined.
As a result of the research, it was found that 4 species of Scarabaeidea beetles are found in the area. These are the Blitopertha lineata, the Gold-glittering rose (Cetonia aurata), the Transcaucasian chafer (Melolontha pectoralis) and the Oxythyrea funesta.
These insects are most harmful to members of the family Asteraceae. Studies have shown that Golden-glittering rose damages Artichoke bushes, Blitopertha lineata damages to flowers of the Calendula plant, while Transcaucasian chafer damages Gaillard, saline aster flowers, hips and rose bushes.
