Presidium of the Russian Academy of Sciences has approved the creation of the RAS Council on Quantum Technologies and approved its composition.

The final decision has not been made so far only on the name of the council. According to Academician Vladimir Fortov, any technology is quantum, so "the style of the name needs to be clarified," making it more intelligible. The president of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Alexander Sergeev, agreed with him, noting that “quantum technologies are understood differently in the scientific community” and recalling that last year three state corporations responsible for different sections of quantum technologies were identified in the Russian Federation: Russian Railways, Rosatom , Rostec.
