In recent years, studies have been conducted to prepare a new edition of the Red Book of the Republic of Azerbaijan. In this regard, the Laboratory of Herbarium and Seeds of the ANAS Institute of Dendrology identified habitats, biological features, reserves, causes of changes in the natural resources of rare and endangered trees and shrubs. The laboratory monitors the distribution of rare and endangered species in the dendroflora of Azerbaijan, studies the factors that led to the extinction of rare plants, the causes of changes in natural resources, the restoration and protection of populations on a scientific basis.

This was stated by the head of the Herbarium and Seeds Laboratory, Ph.D. in Biology, associate professor Minara Hasanova. According to her, the main activities of the laboratory are to study the current state of dendroflora of Azerbaijan, a comparative analysis of natural and cultural species of plants, the taxonomic composition of trees and shrubs, the collection of herbariums, hormonal stimulation of flowering, fruiting, obtaining high-quality seeds, etc.
