Acting Director of the Institute of Oil and Gas of ANAS academician Fakhraddin Gadirov, head of the Department of the Institute of Geology and Geophysics, Doctor of Earth Sciences, Associate Professor Gulam Babayev and PhD in Geology and Mineralogy, Associate Professor Rafig Safarov took part in an online webinar on “Kinematics and dynamics of the Arab-Eurasian conflict zone”.

The event, part of the ERC-Synergy Bi-Lateral international program, was also attended by scientists from the United States, Russia, Turkey, Georgia, the United Kingdom, Italy, France and other countries.

The online meeting discussed the presentation of Alex Copley, Professor of Earth Sciences at the University of Cambridge, UK, on "Kinematics and dynamics of the Arab-Eurasian conflict zone," and voiced proposals. It was noted at the meeting that there are various unresolved and open issues in the field of seismogeodynamic segmentation of the Caucasus region and seismic hazard assessment.

Finally, there was an exchange of views on the possibilities of existing methods and approaches in this direction, and it was decided to discuss the presentations of US scientists at the next online webinar.
