Sky scanning was done with the eROSITA X-ray telescope. The map shows all types of energy objects and phenomena observed in the Milky Way and beyond.

The map is the result of the first full sky scan made by the eROSITA X-ray telescope aboard the Russian-German spacecraft SRG, which was launched in July 2019. Sky scanning began in December last year and ended in June 2020.

But this is only the first of eight sky surveys that eROSITA will conduct over the next few years. During the filming, about 1.1 million X-ray sources in space were cataloged. These are the stars of the Milky Way, and supermassive black holes in the centers of other galaxies, some of which are located at a distance of billions of light years from us - closer to the beginning of the Universe.
