ANAS Nakhchivan Branch celebrated 120th anniversary of literary scholar Aziz Sharif

ANAS Nakhchivan Branch held “Notable educator and scientific figure” scientific conference dedicated to notable literary scholar Aziz Sharif’s 120th anniversary.

Opening the event chairman of the Branch, acad. Ismayil Hajiyev provided information about Aziz Sharif’s rich life and creativity.

Honored Scientist, Dr. Philology, prof. Aziz Sharif has great merits in XX century Azerbaijan scientific-literary and social thought. He contributed to promotion of national literature and science in whole world

Born in the city of Nakhchivan, Aziz Sharif studied in the “Education” School headed by Mohammad Taghi Sidgi. Being as a child in a family of his father, Gurbanali Sharifzadeh’s close friend and associate J.Mammadguluzadeh in Tiflis, attached great importance to his future fate. Educating and enlightening in a hostel organized in the house of J.Mammadguluzadeh and becaming familiar with molla nasraddin followers played a significant role in determining Aziz Sharif’s future of scientific activity, he noted.

Then, chief of Literature study department of the Institute of Art, Language and Literature, Dr.Philology Farman Khalilov delivered a lecture on “Master of memoir genre of Azerbaijan”. Lecturer highlighted Aziz Sharif’s memoirs as a useful source in terms of learning social-political and cultural scope landscape of Nakhchivan at those times.

In the conference, Dr. Philology, Honored Scientist Huseyn Hashimli reported on “Translation issues in Aziz Sharif’s creativity”, chief of Folklor study department of the Institute of Art, Language and Literature, PhD in Philology Rafig Babayev on “Mirza Jalil’s loyal adherent”, researcher of Literature study department Aygun Orujova on “Beginning from molla nasraddin follower up to molla nasraddin study”.
