Azerbaijan National Academy of Science

Shamakha Astrophysical Observatory in Pirguli district joint with Gafgaz University, AzerSpace and Tusi-Bohn planetarium, held 1st Summer school for Astronomy among students, May 29 – June 1, 2015.

40 students elected from 8 domestic universities were probated 6 trainings by scholars invited from Azerbaijan and neighborhood countries. In addition, program embraced observations via telescope, scientific-intellectual discussion and races, as well as excursions to Pirgulu state reserve.

According to the director of the observatory, corresponding member of ANAS Ayyub Guliyev, summer school organized for the first time will lead to increase students' interest in fundamental sciences and to promote Astronomy as well. Next summer school will move to regional nature and bring together trainers besides students from different countries.
