Notable biologist, Honored Scientist, rector of Nakhchivan State University, corresponding member of ANAS Saleh Maharramov is 50.

Saleh Maharramov was born on September 25, 1965 in Alishar village, Sharur region, graduated from Azerbaijan Agriculture Institute with honor diploma in 1987.

In 1991, defended PhD thesis on topic “Helminthotsid pasture plants and toxicological evaluation of hogweeds” in Moscow and doctoral thesis on topic “Characteristics of formation of complex helminthofauna of sheep in Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, application of antihelminth plants against of stomach-intenstinal nematodes and their toxicological evaluation” in 2011 at the Institute of Zoology of ANAS. Elected corresponding member of ANAS in 2014.

In 1999, worked head of Zoology department at NSU, and head of Department of Basic Medical Sciences at the same university in 2000-2013.

By the decision of President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, he was defined the rector of Nakhchivan State University.

Scientist’s research objects are to define antihelmintic effect of the plants, elaborate their efficient forms, and study toxic features. Meanwhile, researcher had studied complex helminthofauna of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic and spread of helmints depending on environmental factors in various zones and in the cattle. He delivered lectures at international conferences in Russia, Ukraine, Turkey and Iran in the direction of conducted studies.

S.Maharramov is the author of 76 scientific works, a monograph, several manuals, program and methodic aids. He supervised for 5 PhDs. The scientist is a member of editorial boards of the journals from a series of biological sciences of higher educational institutions of the Along Volga region.

Biologist-scientist was awarded with badge of "Advanced educational worker” of the Republic of Azerbaijan in 2007 for his merits in scientific-educational and organizational activity. By the order of the President of AR, scientist was deserved to title of "Honored Scientist" in 2014.

We congratulate notable scientist on the occasion of 50th anniversary, wish him long life, robust health and successes in development of Azerbaijan science.
