18th Congress of the International Council for the Study of Virus and Virus-like Diseases of the Grapevine was held in Ankara, Turkey.

Director of the Institute of Molecular biology and biotechnologies, Academician Irada Huseynova got invitation to the event which brought together prestigious scientists of the world, as a head of section and outputs of research carried out under her supervisory over virus and phitoplasma diseases have been submitted in two lecture form. “First data about GLRaV-3virus disease of a grape in Azerbaijan” which delivered by PhD in Biology Gulnara Balakishiyeva was listened on the first day of the conference and aroused a great interest.

Note that, study of virus and phitoplasma diseases of the grape had been started at the Institute of Botany of ANAS 2 years ago under supervisory of Academician Jalal Aliyev and intensive studies were held. Project dedicated to study of this problem has been winner of contest by Science Development Foundation in 2013. Meanwhile, event discussed the possibility of holding one of the congresses of ICVG in Azerbaijan as well.
