Department head of the Institute of Information Technology, PhD Vugar Musayev made a presentation on “E-Infrastructures for science and education and cooperation with the Europe” in a forum organized by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technologies of AR, the UN Development Programme (UNDP) and the "ADA" University.

Stressing the role of e-infrastructures that meet the requirements of science and education scope in a knowledge society, lecturer informed about state-of-the-art and prospects of this sphere in Azerbaijan. He provided information on services of AzScienceNet, national research and education network of the Institute of Information Technology, including new services to be commissioned by universities and research institutions in the coming years.

Opportunities that will be offered to scientists and students of the country by EaPConnect project, which integrates Eastern Partnership countries, including Azerbaijan to the Pan-European Network of Science and Education (GEANT), were submitted to the forum attendees.

The speaker noted that during 2016, through 1 gigabit / sec speed connection to GEANT network, Azerbaijani scientists will have the opportunity to carry out research work, requiring large-volume data transferring and processing, together with European counterparts over a safe, reliable and sustainable network.

Global authentication system (Eduroam), which will have free access to the Internet by teachers and scholars both in the many scientific and educational institutions of the country and in the most European countries even by a single user profile, met with great interest by the conference participants.
