Azerbaijan National Academy of Science

Deputy Director for Science of the Institute of Catalysis and Inorganic Chemistry, corresponding member of ANAS Mahammad Babanli took part in the 73rd Kurnakov auditions which held at Russia Academy of Sciences Institute of General and Inorganic Chemistry.

In the conference Azerbaijani scientist delivered a leture "Physical and chemical aspects of the new generation functional materials – design of topological insulators”. The report commented on the progress made over the past five years by the Azerbaijani chemists in the field of production and investigation of functional inorganic materials of new generation.

It was noted that studies in this area are multidisciplinary in nature and are carried out in a joint collaboration with leading research institutions around the world (Spain, France, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, Japan, Russia, etc.). The research results have been published in more than 20 articles of international journals ( (Nature Communications, Physical Review Letters, Journal of Physical Chemistry, New Journal of Physics, Physical Review B, Journal of Alloys and Compounds, Inorganic Materials etc.) with a high factor of impact.

Scientific supervisor of the Institute of the General and Inorganic Chemistry Academician V.M.Novotvortsev, chairman of the organizing committee of the Kurnakov auditions Academician Kuznetsov and others discussed the lecture and highly appraised it. By the decision of Academic Council of the Institute, Mahammad Babanly was awarded the Kurnakov medal and diploma for his great merits in development of physical-chemical analyze and extraction of new functional materials.

Note that, M.B.Babanly awarded the special Prize and diploma of the Russian AS Presidium for his numerous scientific papers published on the journals of International academic publishing company (MAIK-Nauka) in 2011.
