A Department of the History of Art and Cultural Heritage of Turkic Peoples has been established at the Institute of Architecture and Art of ANAS by internal resources.
The decision on this issue was made at the meeting of the Presidium of ANAS.
The President of ANAS, Academician Isa Habibbeyli underlined that throughout history, various Turkic-origin peoples and ethnic groups spread across different areas through Azerbaijan, establishing and developing their own cultures. In later periods of the historical process, cultural ties between Azerbaijan and neighboring Turkic peoples continued, resulting in similarities in artistic styles. This can be clearly seen in architecture, visual and decorative-applied arts, and musical culture. In the modern period, Azerbaijani art significantly influenced the culture of neighboring Turkic peoples, contributing to their development.
The head of ANAS emphasized that centuries-old interconnections, similarities in artistic styles, and contemporary scientific and cultural relations have led to the emergence of large-scale artworks, architectural examples, and historical-theoretical materials.
It was noted that there is a need to establish the Department of the History of Art and Cultural Heritage of Turkic Peoples at the Institute of Architecture and Art of ANAS for the systematic study and analysis of these materials, as well as their classification.
By the decision of the Presidium, a Department of the History of Art and Cultural Heritage of Turkic Peoples was established at the Institute of Architecture and Art of ANAS, by internal resources and in accordance with the existing staffing table (units).
